Throughout April we were busy supporting a fantastic cause – Aveda Earth Month.

The focus for this year’s Earth Month was to help provide access to clean water for families and children around the world. Every 21 seconds a child dies from lack of clean water and 1.4 million children die every year from diarrhoea caused by poor sanitation.

Throughout April all our salon and spas took part in various fundraising activities from selling cupcakes and hand massages to raffles, car boot sales and a fabulous Alice in Wonderland tea party.  On the 4^th April the GC team also took part in the 5 mile Walk for Water to highlight the struggle of women in developing countries who have to walk that distance every day to gain access to clean water for themselves and their families.

We’re very excited to be helping out with the hair styling for the fabulous Styled & Frocked Fashion Show tomorrow.  

The charity fashion show is being organised by the Tree of Hope Children’s Charity and all proceeds will go towards helping to fund specialist surgery, medical treatment and therapy for sick children in the UK. For more information visit www.treeofhope.org.uk

This fantastic event will be held at JuJu, the multi award-winning  bar located down the Kings Road, close to our newest salon in Chelsea.  Clothes have been donated from up and coming designers Bo Carter, Hoss Intropia and Toni Pickles of Get Waisted.

We’re all very excited about being finalists in the Professional Beauty Awards and can’t wait for the awards next Sunday! It’s been a particularly busy few weeks for Gina as she’s been involved in various interviews and presentations in front of the judging panel, although thankfully all her years of yoga practise has really helped to calm her nerves.

But have we forgotten that we shouldnt JUST celebrate in the commercial sense but remember to also share love in the world? Take some time this Valentines to feel more love for yourself in order to feel it for others.

‘ONCE UPON A TIME’

Gina Conway were once again successful in raising money and awareness for the EarthWatch Institute and Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

Our charity fashion show titled Once Upon A Time was sponsored by Fashion Tv, Nolcha, Salto, Aveda, Tempting Cake, Ash Kumar & Acumen Solutions.

Hosted by Emma Gunavardhana Once Upon a Time saw a stunning line up of fantasy inspired displays collaborated by eco minded geniuses of the hair and fashion industry. Eco Fashion Designers included Eternal Spirits, Lu Flux, By Stamo, Martina Spetlova, Ivana Basilotta, Sika and Elisa Heinesen, with a special body art henna presentation by celebrity artist Ash Kumar.

Guests were treated to the fairytale-like show and later given the opportunity to purchase featured items in a designer charity auction, as well as a Salto cocktail reception, canapés, gift bags, and free entry to stay in Jalouse.

Auction sponsors and gift bag sponsors included Sarah McAlister Hats, Embawo, Keynoir, Sketch, M Brulee, Enamore, Saumarez, People Tree, Terra Plana, Artisan Du Chocolat, Julia Boggio, Aquapax, Eternal Spirits, Ecover and Rousiland.
